Benedict man charged with drug offenses, bound over to District Court

YORK — Seth Reed, 36, of Benedict, has been charged with drug-related offenses and the case was bound over to York County District Court with arraignment proceedings to be held this week.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Department, which filed an affidavit of probable cause with the court, a sergeant stopped Reed on Highway 81 near Road 8 for speeding.

The sergeant said he recognized Reed after prior experience and he could allegedly smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The sergeant also says he saw a pipe in Reed’s pocket. The sergeant also said he could smell alcohol.

The total weight of marijuana found on Reed’s person was found to be 9.6 grams.

It is alleged also during a search of Reed’s person, they found a bag of marijuana and a bag containing Xanax and paraphernalia.

It is alleged he was also under the influence of marijuana and he had a breath alcohol content of .045 which is below the legal limit. It was allegedly found at the jail he was under the “combined influence of alcohol and cannabis.”

Reed was lodged in the York County Jail.

The sergeant noted Reed has two prior convictions for marijuana possession in York County.

He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony; possession of one ounce or less of marijuana third offense, a misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a Class 3 misdemeanor.
