County commissioners to hear budget requests, consider fiber optic project grant application

YORK COUNTY – The York County Commissioners will be hearing budget requests from several outside agencies which receive funding each year from the county, when they meet in regular session on Tuesday, June 11.

The board will meet with Elizabeth Hain from CASA; Carrie Rodriguez from District 5 Probation; and Lisa Hurley from the York County Development Corporation.

This is done each year as the commissioners start the budget formulation process for the next fiscal year.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda:

  • They are expected to take a vote regarding whether the county will pledge funds toward a grant application being filed by Glenwood Telecommunications toward a project that would further expand fiber optics/high speed internet into rural areas of the county which are currently unserved.
  • The commissioners will also hear about an award of funds for the county’s aging services office.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room on the main floor of the courthouse, which is located next to the county clerk’s office.
