YORK – A 20-year-old York man was arrested on Division Avenue after fleeing from York County Sheriff’s deputies.

According to the sheriff’s department, a deputy with the York County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a sedan on W. 25th Street near North Division Avenue in York. Sgt. The pursuit was initiated in which the vehicle sped southbound on Lincoln from West 25th Street and then turned west onto West 19th Street. At the intersection of W. 19th Street and Division Avenue, the driver lost control and struck a mailbox along with a phone line box.

The driver, Gavin Prince, was then taken into custody without further incident.

He was arrested on the following charges, Sgt. Samek said: operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, no proof of insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, willful reckless driving, speeding more than 36 mph over the speed limit, violation of a stop sign and failure to use turn signal.
