YORK – Arraignment proceedings are scheduled for this week in York County District Court for a 37-year-old Lincoln woman who is accused of stealing more than $700 in merchandise from York’s Wal-Mart and then later being caught with fentanyl and methamphetamine in the parking lot.

Aubrey Kinnett has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony, and false reporting, a Class 1 misdemeanor. The initial shoplifting charge has been since dismissed.

According to the affidavit filed with the court, the case was investigated by the York Police Department.

The affidavit says officers responded to the report of shoplifting at the Wal-Mart store.

“During the investigation, it was determined that Aubrey Kinnett attempted to shoplift a total of $710.08 worth of items from the store. It was also determined she had two other accomplices, later identified as Martel Lomison and Allison Bowden,” the officer’s affidavit says.

While enroute to Wal-Mart, dispatch advised an employee indicated the women’s vehicle was in the parking lot.

The officer found the vehicle and spoke with Bowden, according to court documents. “She acknowledged she knew about the shoplifting but denied being involved. I asked for a receipt for her items, which she could not provide. After some questioning, she admitted to taking the items and she had the items in the car. A search of the vehicle revealed all the items that were taken and all items were seized.”

Also during that search, it is alleged officers found a container containing fentanyl and a glass pipe containing methamphetamine. Officers say none of the three women took ownership of the drugs.
