York County Crime Stoppers encourages donations to continue valuable work

YORK COUNTY — The York County Crime Stoppers organization is encouraging donations to their local effort to support law enforcement and help solve local crimes.

It’s been several years since the YCCS has actively asked for donations — and those donations are crucial to the program’s continuance and effectiveness.

For the past 40 years-plus, the YCCS has supported and assisted law enforcement by helping in the effort of receiving information from the public about crimes and persons of interest. YCCS offers rewards for information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved in local crimes — those monetary rewards are funded solely through local donations.

York County Crime Stoppers is also instrumental in bringing the community conversation to the forefront, through promotion of the hotline and public awareness.

The local YCCS committee says the effort has maintained a 100% conviction rate and the recovery of over $113,000 in property loss.

All donations are tax deductible and can be mailed to: York County Crime Stoppers, PO Box 184, York, NE 68467.

They are also seeking more committee members. The group meets every other month for approximately one hour. If someone is interested in becoming a member of the YCCS committee, they can contact Bill Hoefner at 402-363-1604.
