Defendant gets jail time in drug case

YORK – Noel I. Hoig, 54, of Omaha, has been sentenced to four months in jail in a case involving drug possession in York.

He was initially arrested when a York police officer saw him make a left turn on a red light at the York interchange. The officer could smell the odor of marijuana and a probable cause search was conducted. The officer found four containers labeled as containing marijuana, two containers of concentrated THC gummies, a pipe for smoking marijuana and an open bottle of Johnnie Walker Black, according to court documents.

A warrant was later issued for his arrest when he didn’t show up for his arraignment.

A few months later, the felony charge against him was amended to a misdemeanor as part of a plea agreement.

This week, he was sentenced in York County District Court to jail time, for the remaining Class 1 misdemeanor.
