York man arrested, accused of stealing items from numerous vehicles

YORK — On Friday, Feb. 23, the York Police Department received several reports of vehicles broken into and items being stolen, in the area of Eighth Street and Delaware Avenue.

York Police Chief Ed Tjaden said, “with the assistance of York University staff and victims, police officers tracked the stolen items to a resident in York. A search warrant was served on Saturday, Feb. 24, in the 500 Block of West Seventh Street and numerous stolen items were found and subsequently identified as having been stolen from the vehicles.”

The police department arrested Cody Brouillette, 30, of York, on the following charges: theft by receiving stolen property with a value between, $1,500 and $5,000; criminal possession of a financial transaction device; possession of a controlled substance; tampering with physical evidence; and false reporting.

Chief Tjaden said his office appreciated the efforts of York University staff and students in this investigation, adding, “If your vehicle was broken into and/or you had items stolen, please contact the York Police Department at 402-363-2640.”
