York County Commissioners to welcome new member at next meeting

YORK – The York County Commissioners will welcome their new member, LeRoy Ott (representing District 2) when they convene in regular session on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Ott was chosen among four candidates to fulfill the rest of Woody Ziegler’s term, after Ziegler unexpectedly passed away before Christmas.

He is now formally a district commissioner and will take a seat at the table on Tuesday.

Upon his appointment, now that the commissioners’ chairs are full, committee appointments for the year will be made.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda:

  • The commissioners will consider designating Leila Luft and Mindy Gerkin as the York County voting members for the Southeast 911 Region.
  • They will hold the annual public hearing for the one- and six-year road and bridge program.
  • A conversation will be held regarding the future of zoning changes. This comes after the county’s zoning and planning committee passed along proposed zoning regulations pertaining to solar fields.

The public is always encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room, on the main floor of the courthouse.
