Reminder about pet safety in this weather, as Hamilton County dog freezes to death and owner is arrested

HAMILTON COUNTY – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department is reporting they were called on Sunday, Jan, 14, about two dogs left outside in Giltner.

“Deputies were called to 488 North Enfield in Giltner to check on the welfare of two dogs who had been left outside all weekend,” the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department said. “Upon arrival, deputies found one dog in distress and another dog deceased outside of the residence.”

Deputies arrested Kevin Jamison, 60, of Giltner, for cruel neglect of an animal resulting in death and cruel neglect of an animal resulting in serious injury or illness.

They say they took the surviving dog to Aurora Vet Clinic for emergency treatment of hypothermia and thermal injuries.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy says the situation remains under investigation.
