Man gets probation for drug possession

YORK – Da’Von Barnes, 21, of Omaha, has been given probation in a case where he was initially charged with felony drug possession.

He appeared in York County District Court this past week for sentencing, before Judge James Stecker.

Barnes was arrested after he was caught with THC wax during a traffic stop in York County.

The stop took place at Bradshaw’s Interstate 80 exit.

He was initially charged with a Class 4 felony which carries a possible maximum sentence of two years in prison with 12 months of post-release supervision. That was later amended to a Class 1 misdemeanor.

He was sentenced to two years of traditional probation as well as three 10-day stints in jail. The jail times are scheduled for the future and can be waived if he is found to be in compliance with the terms of his probation.
