York Police encourage staying at home

YORK – The York Police Department is urging everyone to stay home today, Jan. 12, if they can, as “many streets are impassable.”

Officers add, “The arctic temperatures only add to the dangers. Unless you have an absolute need to be out, please stay home, shelter in place. If you must go somewhere, you need to: have a plan; tell someone your route; check in with someone when you leave and when you arrive; take extra clothes, blankets and food; make sure your cell phone is fully charged before departing.”

They say, “power crews, emergency services and plow are out and available. Give them room to work. Do not travel if possible. Depending on your location, response times may be delayed as first responders work with plow drivers to reach you.”
