City council to hold first meeting of the new year

YORK – The York City Council will hold its first meeting of the new year this week, when they convene in regular session on Thursday.

During this meeting, they will hear a report from Lisa Hurley, executive director of the York County Development Corporation, regarding business retentions and expansions.

They will also hear a report and update from the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD).

A bid will be considered for the budgeted expense of a building for the street department. They will consider a bid from Dan’s Construction for a 50×125-foot Behlen steel building in the amount of $259,950.

They will also consider an agreement for professional services with Olsson Inc. for the Highway 81 Gateway Development Plan in the amount of $30,000.

A conversation will be held regarding the potential of a LB 840 economic development plan.

They will give a second reading of an ordinance that will clarify authority when hiring and dismissing employees.

The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m., in the council chambers. The public is always encouraged to attend.
