Seasons Greetings from the Friends of the Library

By Stephanie Rodenborg

Seasons greetings from the Friends of the Kilgore Memorial Library! As we close out the 2023 year, we look back and realize the business which happens around the holidays is sometimes overwhelming. So take a breath, rediscover the magic of the holidays and build some memories.

One of my favorite things to do around the holidays is check out books with my kids, whether the books are nonfiction or fiction. Some of our favorite books for the holiday season are “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss, books that explain the different traditions of other countries on how they celebrate the holidays, and any books with snow. The library always sets wonderful selections out for display, so please check out the books.

When everyone is home and stuck inside during the cold weather, check out Kanopy through the library. They have many selections of movies and videos for all ages. All you need is your library card. Or if you like the audiobook route, listen to Blackstone unlimited. Now the holiday season is very busy for everyone with writing Christmas cards, making Christmas candies, attending Christmas programs — check out Libby to check out your books.

With the new year just around the corner, the Kilgore Memorial Library has some exciting announcements. First, in collaboration with the York County Extension Educators, we have adopted a cow! We will be getting updates and the kids will be learning about her . Second, York Uncorked is coming in February! Mark your calendars for the Saturday before Valentine’s Day, and for those of you who like to be in the know, we will be introducing Baconfest with it.

Happy Holidays!
