York One-Act headed back to state after district win

MILFORD – After Friday’s district win in Milford, the York One-Act team is officially headed back to Norfolk to compete for another state championship.

During the event, York walked away with the overall championship, tech award and best actor with Charlie Van Gomple.

This year’s production, “Whispers in the Hollow” by R. R. Rudy Walz, was directed by longtime YHS drama coach, Becky Stahr and features over 100 students in the cast and crew.

It was adapted for the stage by Stahr, Paige Manley and Clare Bierbaum.

Stahr had this to say about Friday’s win, “I could not be more proud of our kids. They took something original and they brought it to life. It has been a long season of progression of continuously working to get to the point where today perfection was had on the stage. Today a lot of dreams came true and we’re very proud and excited to go to the Class B state contest next week.”

More information about the Norfolk competition including showtimes and tickets will be made available soon on the NSAA website.
