Person killed in officer-involved shooting in Seward County is identified

SEWARD COUNTY  — The Nebraska State Patrol Special Investigations Team has now been able to positively identify and provide next of kin notification for the subject involved in the officer-involved shooting with a Seward County Sheriff’s Deputy last week. The incident took place on Monday, October 23, at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Interstate 80 near mile marker 390.

The subject has been identified as Jorge Luis Santana-Ramirez, 43, of Hastings. Santana-Ramirez was pronounced deceased at the scene following the officer-involved shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing. The investigation will be delivered to the Lancaster County Attorney in accordance with the grand jury process.
