Many community events planned for Yorkfest 2023

YORK – There are many, many community events planned for the 2023 Yorkfest celebration, which will be held Sept. 7 -10.

The York Chamber of Commerce has provided a long list of those events, which hold fun for all ages.

Thursday, Sept. 7:

  • Family Fun Night with cookies and inflatables will be at the Kilgore Library. The Chamber will be handing out special Yorkfest cookies and New Heights Assembly Church will host the bounce houses. This will run from 5-7 p.m.
  • The Farmers Market will be held from 5-7 p.m., which will include a pulled pork fundraising meal. This is at the library.
  • Also at the library will be the serving of root beer floats, provided by Christian Riders. This will be from 5-7 p.m.
  • The Friends of the library will have artists on hand to provide air brush tattoos, also from 5-7 p.m.
  • Peter’s One-Man Danger Circus Spectacular will be at the city auditorium. The Friends of the Library are sponsoring this event, from 5-7 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 8:

  • The annual Mayoral Breakfast will be at the Holthus Convention Center with serving starting at 6:30 a.m.
  • The Royalty Luncheon and Coronation will be held at the York Country Club. Serving will be at noon.

Saturday, Sept. 9:

  • The Firemen’s Pancake Feed at the fire department will be held from 7-9 a.m.
  • Union Bank and Trust will be giving away popcorn before the parade.
  • A bake sale will be held at the Eagles Club, starting at 8 a.m.
  • A mini carnival will be held on Sixth Street between Lincoln Avenue and Grant Avenue before and after the parade. Rides will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Carnival games hosted by Renewed Horizon will be on Sixth Street between Lincoln Avenue and Grant Avenue.
  • A petting zoo, sponsored by the York FFA chapter, will run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., on Sixth Street between Lincoln Avenue and Grant Avenue.
  • The Eagles Club will have their Bloody Mary bar from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
  • The grand parade will start at 10 a.m.
  • A poker run, starting at Mogul’s parking lot, will be sponsored by the Wild Hawgs. This will start after the parade.
  • The theater will show the original “Cars” movie at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are only $1.
  • A Make and Take event will be held at Delight Design from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • A sloppy joe and hot dog feed will be held at the First United Methodist Church. They will start serving after the parade, until 1 p.m.
  • A sloppy joe feed will be held at the Elks Lodge after the parade.
  • York Skirts and Shirts will perform at the York Senior Center from 1-3 p.m.
  • The annual skate contest will be held at the skate park at 2 p.m.
  • Bike At Night will be on the Beaver Creek Trails from 5:30-7 p.m. Participants are asked to use the Harrison Park entrance.
  • A demolition derby will be held at the York County Fairgrounds, starting at 6:30 p.m.
