Warrant issued for York man accused of possession and shoplifting

YORK – A warrant was issued this past week for Chad Klingenberger, 45, of York who has been charged with four counts associated with drug possession and shoplifting.

Their cases have been bound over to District Court.

He was scheduled for arraignment but failed to appear, after which the warrant was issued.

He and his wife, Wendy, have been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, both Class 4 felonies; and three counts of shoplifting, with a value of $0-$500, all Class 2 misdemeanors.

They are accused of stealing items from three different York businesses in the South Lincoln region of York.

The York Police Department was dispatched upon reports from one of the businesses that they had been shoplifting. According to court documents, multiple stolen items were found in their backpacks and her purse.

During a search of the purse, they also found crystal methamphetamine.

Court documents indicate Wendy Klingenberger refused to place her hands behind her back, at the time of arrest, and she struggled and fought against officers. She was additionally charged with resisting arrest, a Class 1 misdemeanor; obstructing a peace officer, a Class 1 misdemeanor;

The values of the items stolen from each of the three businesses were determined to be: $203.87, $260.99 and $260.99.
